NEW! Noise Mitigation Construction
Visit Updates for information on current noise mitigation construction activities along Highway 10.
We encourage motorists to drive safely in construction zones by following these safety tips:
- When approaching a construction area, exercise caution and slow down. Be aware that traffic lanes and road surfaces may be changed and people and vehicles may be working on or near the road.
- Always travel at the posted speed limit even if there doesn't appear to be any work taking place. Reduced speed limits in construction zones are not only for workers’ safety but are also in place whenever conditions affecting the highway have changed so that the regular speed limit is no longer appropriate for the road. This includes work taking place beside the highway such as tree removal, survey work and utility relocation work.
- Vehicles ahead of you may stop unexpectedly. Always leave plenty of space between your car and other vehicles and equipment being operated at these locations.
- Always obey directions by flag people or other workers. Your patience is appreciated.
- Expect the unexpected. Keep an eye out for workers and their equipment. Stay alert.
- Cooperate with other drivers to keep traffic moving smoothly. When traffic needs to merge because of a lane closure, ease into the driving lane and leave gaps for other vehicles to merge.
